This website is a tribute to my late father, Bob Newland, and the story of his life in Amateur Radio. Geoff Newland www.geoffnewland.com
My father's interest in amateur radio started in the 1920s when he was in his teens. But until he was aged 21, the Post Office licensing department would not communicate with him directly. They would only write to his father.
His first callsign was 2DLV. In 1938 he was granted a full licence G3VW.
He was one of the first members of the Edgware & District Amateur Radio Society.
This article about my father and other radio hams appeared in the Daily Telegraph Magazine supplement dated 15th February 1974: Daily Telegraph
In 1981 my father moved to Lyme Regis in Dorset and joined the Yeovil Amateur Radio Club.
